Overview
Electrical Drive Train Technical Support Engineer role focusing on offshore wind platform (Haliade X). The Drive Train Commissioning Technical Support Engineer will play a key role in the successful execution of projects, acting as the technical lead for the commissioning project of the complete electrical drive train (HV/MV cables, GIS, transformer, converters and generator) with an overall view from supplier manufacturing to offshore operations. Main activities include validation of asset reception from the supply chain, de-risking issues, technical preparation for onshore and offshore commissioning, alignment with design teams and project operations to release a fully validated commissioning test plan, and achieving technical and EHS excellence on site or in remote support to project and site teams until project closure. Quality and customer satisfaction are the main goals.
Responsibilities
* Lead technical and operative improvements with Design teams
* Support in the documentation creation for Haliade commissioning procedures considering the most up-to-date Engineering test plan, Electrical Machinery Standards, and project customization and engineering improvements. Special attention to EHS compliance.
* Support Package Managers and follow-up Project execution for all technical topics to prepare and execute the commissioning strategy in a timely manner.
* Assist the back office purchasing team by defining tooling and spares lists to be acquired for ongoing projects
* Participate in the development and improvement of tooling in coordination with the Engineering department
* Build relationships with customers to clarify interfaces and establish a partnership on technical aspects of commissioning
* Provide technical support onsite and remotely to onshore, offshore, and ROC teams; give first-line support, manage investigations with Design Engineering; manage defects and PACs; plan support from suppliers or design teams; be accountable for technical topics during works executions
* Drive continuous process improvements to optimize safety and/or reduce costs with emphasis on EHS compliance; focus on digitalization and data analytics
* Support engineering during the NPI process for commissioning
* Follow up tests in previous manufacturing stages and prepare commissioning protocols onshore and offshore to ensure technical de-risking and smooth offshore commissioning; focus on digitalization
* Special focus on power converter and HV power drive train commissioning and technical support
Qualifications/Requirements
* Technical diploma in electro-mechanics, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience working with electrical drive trains in different industries
* English language required; Spanish, French and Portuguese are a plus
* Experience in wind turbine commissioning and project preparation; supplier management and manufacturing line experience is a plus
* Experience in wind turbine technical support and leading multidisciplinary teams (design, suppliers, quality and project)
* Experience with design or commissioning of power converters, PM generators, HV transformers and MV switchgear
* Experience with tools management
* Experience with quality tools (8D, SIPOC, FMEA)
* Strategic thinker with ability to set vision and lead teams to successful outcomes
* Demonstrated system thinking: ability to assess risk, break down complex issues, determine courses of action, and enable effective decision making
