Job Description
Position: Assistant General Manager | Full Time
At Wagamama, we’re an eating house for the soul. With over 160 UK restaurants and growing, our purpose is to nourish the world from bowl to soul. Inspired by fast-paced Japanese ramen bars since 1992, Wagamama is a celebration of Asian food brought to life.
We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager to join us on our journey of true nourishment.
The Role
As an Assistant General Manager, you'll be a key part of the restaurant leadership team, supporting the General Manager in leading the restaurant in the Wagamama way. You’ll embody our values and leadership behaviors, inspiring and motivating your team to deliver exceptional service and exceed expectations. You should have a passion for people, food, and hospitality, and be driven to make positive change.
Benefits include a competitive salary, a £3000 bonus opportunity per year, an average of £140 tips per week, access to Wagestream to access up to 30% of your earnings before payday, a dedicated 6-week training program, free Wagamama food allowance (£14-£25) on every shift, discounts at Wagamama and other brands, internal progression opportunities, wellness programs, family-friendly policies, and financial wellbeing support.
What We Look For
* Experienced hospitality manager capable of leading a team with positive behavior and driving performance in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communicator who engages in genuine conversations, ensuring team support and understanding.
* Experience in understanding restaurant financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Ability to manage restaurant and labor budgets effectively.
* Passionate leader with experience in team performance and development management.
* Inspiring and engaging leader who fosters growth and nourishment in their team.
* Problem solver with quick decision-making skills.
The Wagamama Way
Our philosophy, Kaizen, meaning ‘good change’, guides us to find better ways in all we do—our food, thinking, and working. We are committed to positive change in our communities and the planet. With three decades of acting differently, we celebrate personality over perfection, welcoming everyone and their stories. We promise to support and trust our team, creating safe spaces for real conversations. We ask you to bring your authentic self to Wagamama.
