What you’ll be doing
Your key responsibilities include:
1. Financial control & management of Capex programmes (35%)
2. Reporting & management reporting across engineering & infrastructure units (25%)
3. Building and articulating the financial story behind the numbers (20%)
4. Medium‑term planning & forecasting to support strategic decision‑making (15%)
5. Collaborating across UK teams and an offshore team in India (5%)
This role does not have direct reports but is highly cross‑functional.

6. Pragmatic, collaborative team player who holds others to account through a supportive yet challenging leadership style, while consistently delivering on their own commitments.
7. Recognised expert in their field, with the credibility and experience to engage confidently across multiple areas of the business.
8. Strong matrix‑management capability, able to coordinate and influence cross‑business teams to deliver complex, multi‑phase programmes.
9. Leader and coach, supporting the development of others both within their immediate team and across the wider organisation; provides guidance, operational direction, and specialist expertise.
10. Sponsors and steers FD‑led finance programmes, taking ownership for planning, facilitation, and successful delivery.
11. Champions best practice and leads the resolution of conflicting priorities, ensuring delivery of key organisation‑wide finance initiatives.
12. Sets agendas and identifies opportunities, driving continuous improvement and offering deep insight across their finance specialism.
13. Qualified Accountant (or actively working towards qualification) or equivalent.
