About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially aware Finance Manager to lead our finance function based in Wellingborough. You’ll oversee financial reporting, credit control, invoicing, and supplier management, while driving process improvements and supporting strategic decisions.
This role suits someone who enjoys variety — from producing management accounts and tracking project profitability to mentoring team members and collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
• Month-end job profitability analysis
• Monthly management accounts and year-end preparation
• Bank reconciliation, accruals, and prepayments
• Supplier cost tracking and overhead management
• Client and supplier reporting
Sales & Purchase Ledger
• Credit control and sales ledger oversight
• Supplier payments and purchase ledger management
• Invoicing for planned maintenance works
• Monthly expense processing
Process Improvement & Compliance
• Review and improve finance processes
• Ensure timely delivery of finance tasks
• Negotiate supplier contracts and renewals
• Protect business profitability through proactive controls
Leadership & Collaboration
• Support and guide finance team members
• Lead weekly/monthly finance meetings
• Collaborate with internal teams and business owners
Candidate Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in finance roles (ledgers, reporting, month-end/year-end)
• Strong understanding of financial controls and commercial awareness
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
• Clear communicator — able to explain financials to non-finance colleagues
• Organised and confident using Office 365 and new systems
Preferred
• Sage Accounts experience
• Cash flow forecasting skills
• AAT qualification (preferred)
