JOB DESCRIPTION
ABS Consulting's Extreme Loads and Structural Risk Division is seeking an experienced Engineer to join our team. ABS Consulting is a worldwide multi-discipline industry leader in risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and management planning for natural, process, or threat-related hazards.
What You Will Do:
1. Consequence Analysis
2. Explosion, Fire, and Toxic Modeling
3. Explosion Testing and Similitude Modeling
4. Advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Nonlinear static, Nonlinear transient dynamic
5. Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analyses
6. Root Cause Analysis & Incident Investigations
What You Will Need:
Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
* Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
* Experience in fluid dynamics and energy emphasis
* 5+ years of experience performing CFD modeling of dispersion/explosion using GEXCON FLACS
* 5+ years of experience performing consequence modeling using DNV PHAST and SAFETI
* Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Proven track record of conducting fire, toxic, and explosion hazards analysis
* Working knowledge of facility siting and/or Fire & Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA)
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to stakeholders
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Preferred: Experience with CFD modeling using ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, COMSOL, or equivalent
* Preferred: Programming/scripting experience (.NET, Python, VBA)
* Preferred: Project management experience
* Preferred: Experience as a consulting engineer
Reporting Relationships:
This person would report to the Director of Engineering.
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in an office environment. Duties may include site visits and limited overseas travel.
