Role Overview
A vacancy for an Ophthalmology consultant at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA). The role requires cross‑site working, providing outpatient clinics at the Oldham Integrated Care Centre, Rochdale Infirmary and Fairfield General Hospital, with the majority of day‑case surgical activity at Rochdale Infirmary.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop ophthalmic sub‑specialty work.
* Provide comprehensive knowledge of ophthalmology, including neuro‑ophthalmology and paediatrics to complement existing services.
* Coordinate outpatient clinics across multiple sites and manage day‑case surgical activity.
* Collaborate with a team of 11 consultants, 4 associate specialists, 2 speciality doctors and 9 resident doctors.
* Maintain and review the post description in partnership with the post holder.
Recruitment Criteria
* Candidate must be on the Specialist Register or on admission to the Register within 6 months of interview (CCST or CCT in Ophthalmology).
* Alternatively, candidate must be willing to complete CESR within 12 months of employment.
* Appointment will be made in accordance with the 2003 Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.
