Overview
Senior Flight Control Engineer — Bristol. Vacancy Reference: CLA-345. Position: Full-time. Salary Range: £60,000 - £70,000.
Callen-Lenz specialises in crewed and uncrewed aircraft operations and technology. We are expanding and seeking key roles to assist with growth. We offer innovative UAS solutions across technical services, products, platforms and operational services. We aim to drive forward our expansion in the UK aerospace sector.
Responsibilities
* Model-based design of flight control software using Simulink or similar.
* Leading the design and maintenance of autopilot simulation software.
* Coordinate and contribute to flight performance studies.
* Develop flight dynamics models for company products.
* Oversee and coach team members in related software development tools.
* Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to define software requirements.
* Review software source code and model designs.
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
* Lead testing and test recording to ensure correct operation and that requirements are met.
* Lead the software team within projects to deliver activities on time and within cost.
* Support the Project Manager in scoping, defining and estimating project tasks.
* Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by ensuring tasks are performed safely.
* Report hazards and incidents as required and participate in health and safety training when directed.
* Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
About You
* BSc or MSc in an Engineering-related subject.
* Essential: experience in designing and documenting control systems.
* Deep understanding of aeronautics and control theory.
* Considerable experience in designing and documenting software.
* Experience using MATLAB & Simulink.
* Knowledge of a variety of programming languages and tools.
Desirable
* Understanding of real-time and embedded software.
* Knowledge of safety-related engineering practices.
* Leadership and mentoring of software engineers.
* Previous experience or interest in UAVs.

* Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
* Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel

* Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK

About the role: In the role of Senior Flight Control Engineer you will work with the wider team to develop Callen-Lenz flight control and simulation software. You will lead software project teams to design and document software while communicating with stakeholders to ensure software meets requirements.
