Job Description
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager to join a well-established industrial manufacturing business operating within a complex, fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the site-wide HS&E function, driving compliance, continuous improvement, and the development of a strong positive safety culture across operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all site Health, Safety & Environmental activities
* Ensure compliance with all relevant UK HSE legislation and internal standards
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety performance and environmental management
* Lead, coach, and develop the HS&E team to ensure high capability and engagement
* Coordinate incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions, including RIDDOR submissions where required
* Oversee contractor management processes including audits, RAMS reviews, permits, and competency assessments
* Support and maintain HS&E systems, audits, accreditations, and compliance reporting
* Lead emergency preparedness and incident response activities
* Work closely with operational and technical teams to improve process safety and reduce operational risk
* Support occupational health processes, return-to-work activities, and wider employee wellbeing initiatives
* Develop and review Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Method Statements
* Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, training, and employee engagement
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience within a Health, Safety & Environment leadership role in heavy industry, manufacturing, engineering, or a similar high-risk environment
* NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) essential
* Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation and compliance requirements
* Experience leading audits, investigations, and safety improvement initiatives
* Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and engage stakeholders at all levels
* Strong leadership and people management capability
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
* Experience managing contractor safety and operational risk
