There are 3 adult acute hospitals and a specialist Paediatric hospital within NHS Lothian. Blood Science Laboratory Services are provided from Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Western General Hospital, and St John’s Livingston, with these posts at SJH and RIE. We are seeking multiple individuals across our 3 acute sites for Biochemistry, Haematology/Blood Bank, and Combined Reception/Referrals.
Ideal candidates will have experience working in a Laboratory Medicine Laboratory as a BMS in the relevant Blood Science discipline, with an interest in service development. After suitable training, the successful candidate will be required, after competency review, to undertake 24/7 duties in the appropriate departments and be flexible to provide cross-site cover when needed. Working hours are 37 per week on average, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts when suitably trained.
The Combined Reception/Referrals lead is a new post, anticipated to be a core hours only role, focusing on training and development of Biomedical Support workers and developing a unified referrals process for the new laboratory computer system.
