Associate Lecturer in Food and Nutrition College of Business, Tech. & Engineering Academic Grade 7 - £39,906 to £44,746 per annum pro rata (depending on experience) The role We are seeking to appoint several enthusiastic and knowledgeable Associate Lecturers to join our academic team in the field of Food and Nutrition. These roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, applied teaching, learning, and assessment across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Successful candidates will have expertise in two or more of the following subject areas:
1. Nutrition, physiology and biochemistry
2. Nutrition through the life-course
3. Nutritional science
4. Food science, quality and sustainability
5. Food labelling and packaging
As an Associate Lecturer, you will be expected to deliver engaging, evidence-based teaching that supports student learning and development, contributing to both face-to-face and online delivery where required. You will participate in module delivery and assessment, ensuring content remains current, research-informed, and aligned with public health priorities and industry expectations. You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined-benefit pension schemes in the country. Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/57th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 29% of your salary). For a starting salary of £40,000, for example, the University would pay just over £11,400 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of £702 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).
