Digital Technology
You\'ll be part of a data transformation journey within GE Aerospace. The Digital Technology team designs, deploys, and maintains technologies and systems to meet changing customer and business needs.
Roles and Responsibilities
In the 12-month DT placement you\'ll gain hands-on experience in IT operations, project management, data analytics, and software development. You\'ll work on projects to improve business processes, support IT systems, and drive digital transformation. Roles include:
* Digital Technology in Cardiff: develop a Digital Toolset to drive productivity within business functions; lead projects using the GE Toolset and Analytics Tools; partner with business functions to translate requirements into Operational Tools.
* Digital Technology in Caledonian: development of Microsoft M365 non-coreload tools and integration into manufacturing and office processes.
* DT Technology and Operations Team in Cheltenham: focus on Shop Floor MES and Quality Systems; mix of software development and deployment of MES software at manufacturing sites.
* Digital Technology at Dowty: gain skills across IT support services (Operations, Project Management & Data Analytics).
* Cyber Security in Cheltenham: five key areas include Intelligence, Enterprise Vulnerability Management, Insider Threat, External Threat, and Digital Forensics.
This placement helps you grow skills and gain experience in digital technology. You\'ll be guided by structured goals and supported by a People Leader and team. Coaching and mentoring are provided, with opportunities to connect with other placement students across the UK.
This opportunity is offered at Cardiff, Caledonian (Prestwick, Scotland), Cheltenham, and Gloucester (Dowty) sites. You\'ll share location and role preferences during the process.
GE Aerospace Wales
GE Aerospace Wales specializes in maintenance, repair and overhaul of commercial jet engines. The Nantgarw facility has large workshop space and engine test facilities, with a strong capability in Component Repair Wales and maintenance for engines including GE90-115B and CFM56. It is a major site with a broad customer base and significant investment in upskilling for opportunities like GE9X readiness.
The Wales team focuses on career opportunities and has built apprenticeship, internship and work experience programs to develop technical and engineering talent. The site\'s heritage and technology position GE Aerospace Cheltenham as a leader in the field.
GE Aerospace Caledonian
Caledonian is a purpose-built aircraft engine overhaul facility near Glasgow Prestwick Airport, known for MRO of CF6 & GEnx engine types. After overhauls, engines undergo performance testing on site before returning to customers. The team focuses on training and developing future engineers and leaders, with a culture of inclusion and community involvement.
Dowty, a GE Aerospace Company
Dowty is a leading supplier of electronically controlled, composite propeller systems with programs including Lockheed Martin C-130J, De-Haviland, Dash 8-400, and Leonardo C-27J. Dowty\'s in-house production uses resin transfer molding and braiding technologies to produce composite blades.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Currently studying an Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Management, IT Project Management, Cyber Security, ICT or Digital Technology Bachelor\'s or integrated Master\'s degree
* Passionate about Digital Technology
* On course to achieve a 2:1 degree or above
* Penultimate year of study and returning to education post-placement
