Affinity is looking for a promising new marketer to join our fabulous team of digital development and delivery specialists, as a Marketing Apprentice. Who we are Affinity is a digital agency. We’re a small Cornish company with a team of around 30 people. A third of us live and work in Cornwall, but the rest of the team live in other parts of the UK. We design, develop, support and improve digital services for some amazing clients across the public and private sectors: clients such as The Timpson Group, Education Scotland, NHS Scotland, the Cabinet Office and the National Crime Agency, to name just a few. Those digital services can be anything from public websites, to apps, to back-end and line-of-business software. About this opportunity Until now, the people doing our marketing are the same people who run the business and help deliver our services to our clients. But we’re growing, and it’s time for us to make room for a new full-time team member who can have marketing as their primary focus. We are looking to recruit someone who will grow into this new marketing role over time, as they move through their apprenticeship studies. We’re looking for someone who has the drive and enthusiasm to work with us to shape up our expanding marketing function. With the support of the experts around them, our Marketing Apprentice will have the opportunity to do just that, and to create a career path for themselves within Affinity. Where you will work A lot of our work is done remotely from home but we also have a base in Truro that we sometimes work from, along with other locations across the county that we regularly use to get together and collaborate. It is essential that you are someone who is comfortable working remotely for a significant part of your working week. This means that you need to be reliable and self-motivated, and able to remain focussed and professional when you’re working remotely. It’s important to add, though, that you will never be working alone; we use multiple tools and platforms so that conversations and collaboration are happening all of the time, across the team, using a combination of video, voice and messaging channels. This means that you will need to have somewhere that you can work remotely from, with a good internet connection which is stable and can support video calls and remote screen sharing. We will provide you with a laptop and any other kit you need to do your job. There will also be days when you’ll need to work together with others in a shared working space. Meeting locations will be local to Truro and easy to get to by road or public transport. Under normal circumstances, expenses for travel to and from work won’t be covered by Affinity (but we will cover expenses if it’s a longer journey to a special location which is further away than usual). What you will work on The Marketing Apprentice will work with the CEO, COO and other colleagues who are involved in our marketing and sales activities. You’ll also be supported by our Delivery Support and Technical Team Leaders, who will provide you with all of the information you need to be able to market and promote our business. You will be working with us to strengthen and implement our integrated marketing mix, and to create communications which support our organisational objectives and enhance our customer engagement. With the support of the people around you, you will be helping us to deliver campaigns across digital and traditional channels which might include search, social media, email, content marketing, exhibitions and events. Over time, your involvement will be across the full lifecycle of these channels, meaning that you will get involved in the planning, execution, and measurement of results. You may also get involved in customer service tasks which support our marketing strategies. We will work closely with you and your apprenticeship education provider to support your learning and development. We will tailor what you are working on to align with where you are in your learning. We will devise relevant projects and will help you to build repeatable routines and processes to work through, with the aim of you becoming more responsible and self-sufficient as you move through your apprenticeship, and as your knowledge and experience grow. What we’re looking for In order to thrive and be a great fit for Affinity, we’re looking for someone with the following skills and characteristics: Essential Driven, enthusiastic and conscientious, always working to the best of their ability. Bringing energy and enthusiasm to whatever task they are assigned. Conscientious, trustworthy, and great at time-keeping. Not afraid to put ideas forward, push themselves, try new things, and to sometimes make mistakes (this is how we all learn and improve!). Confident when speaking to others, regardless of that person’s position and level of experience. A great articulator, who can speak and write clearly and to a good standard of English. Comfortable working remotely, as well as in a collaborative space with others. Reliable and self-motivated, and able to remain focussed and professional when working remotely. Has access to a suitable working space they can work remotely from, with a good internet connection which is stable, and can support video calls and screen sharing. A good level of computer literacy. Grade 3 GCSE (D) in English and Maths. Beneficial Previous experience of employment in any field. Some existing experience of marketing and communications in a professional setting. An interest in the digital industries. Hours of work Affinity’s core hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. This is a full-time position which, at Affinity, is 37.5 hours per week. We can offer some flexibility in this, and the hours you work; however the apprenticeship scheme requires a contractual minimum of 30 hours per week. Pay Affinity is a committed Living Wage employer. This means that we will pay you above the Government’s statutory minimum wage. Your salary will be dependent on your experience, with the minimum being set as follows: For the first year of your apprenticeship with us, the starting salary will be £14,723 for a full-time position. Full time means 37.5 hours per week. After 12 months, if you are under 21, then your salary will increase to £20,085 for a full-time position.
