Job Title: Senior Youth Worker

Salary: £24.06 - £31 per hour
About Our Client:
Our client, a London Borough Council, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Senior Youth Worker to join their team. With a commitment to providing a diverse programme of free opportunities and support for young people aged 11 to 19 (25 with SEND) across East London, our client aims to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and empower them to have a voice and influence on services.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate, develop, and deliver projects that address a range of youth issues, such as health, bullying, transitions, sexuality/gender, crime, gangs, or drugs.
2. Plan and organise community and social events for young people.
3. Design and implement activity programmes that engage young people in informal educational and recreational activities, including sports, arts, and drama.
4. Assess and address the health, social, and emotional needs of young people.
5. Collaborate with professionals, stakeholders, and the community to ensure the success of youth programmes.
Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
6. Minimum Level 3 NVQ JNC recognised Youth Support Worker qualification.
7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
9. Sensitivity and understanding of the current challenges and needs of young people.
10. Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
11. Attention to detail and a can-do attitude.
12. Active listening skills and a non-judgmental approach.
13. Objectivity, impartiality, and accountability.
14. Technological proficiency, including knowledge of the Microsoft suite and databases.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
15. Experience and qualifications working with vulnerable young people, such as young carers or those with SEND.
16. Proficiency in Bengali or Somali languages.
