Lead Pharmacy Technician Education and Training

Applications are invited for the full time permanent role of Lead Pharmacy Technician (Education and Training). The successful applicant will L-
* Support the Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician to develop and manage the training and education for technician led services.
* Co-ordinate, facilitate and deliver training to dispensers, students, technicians and accuracy checking pharmacy technicians for technician led services.
* Complete training documents and procedures for technician led services.
* Lead the technician led services in the delivery of identified training needs.
* Support the Chief Pharmacy Technician to manage the dispensers, students, technicians and accuracy checking pharmacy technicians.
* Provide a specialist technical service/specialist advice to patients at ward level including medicines optimisation.
* Support the Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician in training of the Omnicell systems for all staff.
You will be required to participate in the department rota to ensure a pharmacy service is provided efficiently over 7 days. This includes late nights, weekends and Bank holidays.

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Person Specification
Qualifcation
* Practising Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* BTEC/NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or an equivalent approved qualification
* Qualification in Management/Leadership. As a minimum one of:- o ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management
* CMI Level 3 Diploma or Certificate in Principles of Management & Leadership
* City & Guilds Level 3 Leadership and Management
* Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship and willing to undertake the Mary Seacole/Edward Jenner Leadership programmes
* Qualification in learning and development such as Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Learning and Development/Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
* Substantial post registration experience within hospital pharmacy
* Working with pharmacy computer systems e.g. JAC, EMIS, ePMA
* Substantial experience in training and education
* Experience of system management and maintenance of JAC ePMA
* Knowledge of current developments in pharmacy and key drivers for the NHS
* Experience of providing clinical services to wards e.g. medicines reconciliation, counselling patients on discharge
* Experience of managing change within a clinical environment
* Experience of managing a team
* Experience of completing appraisals
* Experience of procedure writing
