Job Summary

Pay band 8A Salary: £57,528‑£64,750 per annum

Hours per week: 37.5, full time

Contract type: 23 months Fixed Term

Play a leading senior technical role in the provision of effective, efficient and fully integrated IT Infrastructure services that maximise availability and integrity for end‑users and optimise the value gained by the Trust from its investment in IT.


Responsibilities

* Design multiple architectural models with varying complexities, ensuring business strategy and processes are considered in translation to IT solutions.
* Operate across organisational and technology silos to drive common approaches across the Trust enterprise architecture.
* Act as a champion for the department’s ITIL processes, providing professional guidance in the execution of Change, Release, Problem, Performance, and Availability Management.
* Provide leadership in enterprise architecture technologies when working with external vendors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
* Provide leadership in application performance monitoring, detect potential performance changes and oversee action plans to ensure user quality of experience.
* Proactively and positively contribute to the achievement of deliverables through individual and team effort, managing the production of required deliverables and controlling risks.
* Support team members to deliver on their functionally relevant objectives by offering advice, guidance and support as appropriate.
* Ensure that approved budgets are spent effectively and in accordance with agreed procedures.
* Liaise with Senior Professionals and related functions to ensure work is neither overlooked nor duplicated.
* Build and sustain effective communications with other roles involved in shared services as required.
* Maintain and continuously improve specialist knowledge in an aspect of health service that significantly contributes to the Trust’s objectives and aims.
* Establish and maintain strategic links with a range of external partners/stakeholders, engaging them to gain necessary contribution and commitment.
* Undertake proactive horizon scanning for developments related to Trust work or opportunities for Trust involvement around health issues.
* Increase the level of knowledge and skills within the Trust through documentation of key learning and supporting others to develop their professional abilities.
* Disseminate knowledge through engagement in report writing, ensuring technical accuracy and reliability.
* Ensure that expertise is seen as a resource within and outside the Trust and form working partnerships with government departments, national agencies and key stakeholders.
* Develop structures, systems, ways of working and personal values that support the Trust’s sustainable development objectives with regard to carbon reduction and waste minimisation, encouraging all stakeholders to act as enthusiastic agents of change.
* Provide guidance, coaching and collaborative working with Technical Architects to deliver consensus‑based enterprise solutions that are scalable and adaptable to changing business needs.
* Lead regular discussions regarding internal process and system improvements to ensure maximum efficiency across the organisation and enterprise architecture.
* Align IT strategy and planning with the Trust’s business goals by leading planning sessions with business decision makers.
* Lead on multi‑vendor architecture strategies and major incident resolution situations, acting as a subject‑matter expert of multiple enterprise technologies.
* Form part of the IT departments Design Authority and contribute to the long‑term strategy for the Trust’s core IT architecture.
* Promote shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and maximise benefits from server and storage virtualised technologies, ensuring projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from business and IT strategies.
* Direct or indirectly involve in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of information technology within the enterprise.
* Act as a champion of knowledge and skills in specific technology areas, sharing these skills and knowledge with colleagues to develop staff understanding of how IT components interact.


Experience

* Advanced theoretical and enterprise knowledge across three or more information technology platforms: Server, Virtualisation, Desktop Virtualisation, Data & Voice Networking, Messaging, Storage Area Networks, Security, Mobility, Server & Peripheral Hardware.
* Significant experience of IT Service Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Performance Management & Availability Management.
* Significant experience in leading highly complex technical problems to resolution, including team management and managing external suppliers.
* Significant experience in project delivery of technical projects.
* Experience in assisting with report writing, operating procedures, options appraisals, risk analysis and user guides.


Skills and Knowledge

* Excellent interpersonal and explanatory skills in dealing with a wide range of information technology users from skilled to ICT‑illiterate.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present within a group.
* Good team‑player, highly motivated individual to support the delivery of an efficient, effective, customer‑focused support service.
* Good presentation and negotiation skills to produce and present formal proposals and gain acceptance.
* Excellent planning and time‑management skills.
* Good negotiating and relationship‑building skills to gain maximum benefit for customers from software suppliers and internal ICT providers.
* Able to set clear and appropriate priorities, with the ability to deal with conflicting demands, unpredictable work patterns, and multiple deadlines.
* Good technical knowledge to understand and resolve enterprise technical problems.
* Good knowledge of data protection and information security/governance issues.
* Good knowledge of providing proactive IT System/Network performance monitoring.


Qualifications

* Degree level qualification or equivalent in computing or a related field.
* Technical accreditation in at least two or more of the following: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Virtualisation Expert (CVE) or Citrix Certified Architect (CCA).
* ITIL Foundation Certificate.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* PRINCE2 Practitioner Certificate.


Desirable

* ITIL Practitioner qualification.
