Pricing Consultant – Risk Pricing

The Risk Pricing Adaptations team is responsible for proposing adjustments to risk cost estimates based on market/claims data insight. You’ll bring your existing pricing skills to bear, leading on the design and testing of such changes to improve our pricing accuracy.
What you'll be doing:
1. Implementation of new features and factors including external data enrichment and enhancements to existing factors.
2. Alignment of loss ratio and expense assumption views between business areas.
3. Understanding the drivers of gaps in Actual vs Expected risk costs and taking action.
4. Continually seeking and identifying new and potentially better approaches and testing their effectiveness, in line with corporate brand strategy.
5. Investigating accuracy and confidence level of results provided.
6. Working with Trading team to deliver the price changes to market.
7. All the while, ensuring that appropriate governance processes are followed to ensure we have relevant sign-offs and regulatory compliance checks have been completed.
8. Initially you’ll focus either on PCW or on Direct channels.
Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 50% across the month.
What you’ll need:
9. Experience in Risk pricing, in particular segmental change analysis, proposal, implementation and performance tracking, and Data Science.
10. Strong understanding of the components of a pricing algorithms and application of underwriting rules.
11. Understanding of key legislation and regulation applying to motor insurance and how this impacts pricing algorithms, models, customer premiums and experience.
12. Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for problem solving.
13. Ability to communicate complex information in a simple way.
14. Experience of Radar, or alternative pricing software.
15. Extensive experience of multivariate modelling, for example in Emblem.
16. Extensive experience of data manipulation using languages, such as SQL or Python.
17. Experience of statistical and mathematical techniques and proven experience in applying these effectively in General Insurance Pricing.
