Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced improvement leader to play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across YAS. As the Senior QI Lead, you will provide visible leadership, specialist improvement expertise and operational management of the QI Team. Working closely with the Head of Quality Improvement, you will drive forward strategic improvement programmes, support organisational maturity in QI, and influence how care is designed and delivered to benefit patients, staff and the wider health system.
Responsibilities include delivering improvement programmes through advising on improvement methods, managing improvement milestones, supporting teams to achieve improvements and ensuring the timely delivery of improvement; supporting the delivery of QI enabling plans and strategies; engaging with and providing improvement leadership to people who may not be directly in the QI team to ensure improvement is daily practice amongst teams; communicating complex and sensitive messages relating to improvement across the Trust; and developing and delivering QI team yearly workplans and objectives. You will deliver improvement education programmes, work with teams to undertake Quality Impact Assessments (QIA) and provide assurance of the QIA process to the Head of QI; support the Trust to operate within an effective quality management system; ensure quality is demonstrated and regularly audited for assurance purposes (including aligning with Care Quality Commission frameworks to achieve an outstanding rating); regularly provide assurance to the Head of QI and key stakeholders against organisational improvement maturity and cultural measures relating to improvement; and deputise for the Head of QI as required.
To support our improvement ambitions, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quality Improvement (QI) Lead to join our QI Team.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and supervise the QI Team in delivering continuous improvement programmes and practical support to care design and delivery.
2. Advise on improvement methods, manage milestones and ensure timely delivery of improvement initiatives.
3. Support the delivery of QI enabling plans and strategies; engage with non-QI teams to embed improvement as daily practice.
4. Communicate complex, sensitive improvement messages across the Trust.
5. Collaborate with the Head of QI to develop and deliver annual workplans and objectives; deliver improvement education programmes.
6. Work with teams to undertake Quality Impact Assessments (QIA) and provide assurance of the QIA process.
7. Support the Trust to operate within an effective quality management system and to demonstrate quality through regular audits.
8. Align with Care Quality Commission (CQC) frameworks to support an outstanding rating where applicable.
9. Provide regular assurance to the Head of QI and stakeholders on organisational improvement maturity and cultural measures.
10. Deputise for the Head of QI as required.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant role, with a recognised QI qualification (e.g., QSIR, Lean Six Sigma).
2. Demonstrated ability to deliver improvement and manage change in a complex organisation through to scale and spread.
3. Credible leadership experience, including within the health and social care setting.
4. Values-driven with a clear understanding of Trust values and ability to articulate them in practice.
