The Role
NHS Lanarkshire are looking to recruit a highly motivated expert pharmacy practitioner to be the Lead Clinical Pharmacist / Deputy Head of Pharmacy (0.5wte) due to retiral of the current post holder. This position will lead, manage and develop an exceptional team of specialist and highly specialist clinical pharmacists. You will lead, develop, deliver and evaluate pharmacy clinical services to the patient population within University Hospital Wishaw, NHS Lanarkshire.
The post holder will provide highly specialist and complex expert pharmaceutical advice liaising with the UHW Management Team, Director of Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy Managers and will work collaboratively with senior medical staff, the multidisciplinary and hospital management teams to improve and develop the pharmaceutical service to UHW patients.
Participation in regional and national working is expected along with other specialist pharmacy groups such as UKCPA, NAPS and the post holder is required to facilitate the development of best practice and evidence based guidelines to support the treatment of patients. The post holder will also be expected to lead on service developments within pharmacy across NHSL working closely with the other Heads of Pharmacy

What we'll need you to bring
1. Masters of Pharmacy Degree
2. Member General Pharmaceutical Council
3. Demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge / service provision and development.
4. Post Graduate degree/diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Management.
5. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development / management training.
6. Minimum 8 years post registration clinical pharmacy experience.
7. Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice.
8. Can delegate authority appropriately.
9. The ability to evaluate service quality.
It would be great if you also have
10. Post registration hospital experience.
11. Experience in delivering clinical services to specialist patients.
12. Experience in managing staff and delegating authority appropriately.
13. Independent Prescribing qualification
14. A driving licence is required, this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
Contract type
Fixed Term (1 Year, April 2026 to March 2027)
Part Time
18.5 Hours
Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Please note this is a 1 Year fixed term post. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

This role will be based in Pharmacy within University Hospital Wishaw.
