Responsibilities
* a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
* b. The provision of services commensurate with the GP contract
* c. Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising practice and any other local guidelines
* d. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
* e. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
* f. Effective management of long‑term conditions
* g. Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self‑care
* h. Process administration in a timely manner including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
* i. Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways
* j. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
* k. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
* l. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
* m. Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans
* n. Take responsibility for continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the organisation
* o. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
* p. Attend and contribute effectively to external and internal meetings as required
* q. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the organisation including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
* r. Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on safeguarding adults and safeguarding children
* s. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
* t. Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice
* u. Commit to self‑learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the organisations team
* v. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
* w. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
* x. Be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi‑disciplinary team
* y. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
* z. Accept responsibility for a specialist interest within the organisation
* aa. Contribute to the effective management of the organisation including administration, planning, strategy, resilience planning etc.
* bb. Identify, implement and embed best practice through clinical guidelines and the audit process
* cc. Contribute to the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
* dd. Show leadership qualities, work collaboratively, ensure an even distribution of the organisations workload
* ee. Remain fully focused on the strategic aims of the organisation, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
* ff. Prepare and attend partnership meetings contributing in a positive manner
* gg. Provide proactive leadership to the organisation, patients and their carers
* hh. Support in the delivery of enhanced services and other service requirements on behalf of the organisation
* ii. Participate in the management of patient complaints when requested to do so, and participate in the identification of any necessary learning brought about through clinical incidents and near‑miss events
* jj. Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes
* kk. Contribute to and embrace the spectrum of clinical governance
* ll. Attend a formal appraisal at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed
* mm. Contribute to public health campaigns (e.g., flu clinics) through advice or direct care
