At the Ministry of Defence, you will work within a highly capable team of Safety Officers. We employ talented people who challenge and guide each other. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced safety professional to join the team.
The Capability Safety function, within the Army Safety Group, has been formed to meet the challenge of ensuring equipment coming into service is safe by design and safe to operate. Key responsibilities:

3. Ensure safety decisions are informed by appropriate competence, including input from the user and maintainer community.
4. Attend Safety & Environmental Panels where risk severity identifies specific issues.
5. Ensure legislative, regulatory, and policy compliance of Capability Safety management.
6. Provide advice on the development of capability ‘safe to operate’ and ‘safely operated’ safety claims.
7. Support and guide Hazard Log development.
8. Submit reports into SharePoint demonstrating work carried out in support of Army capability teams.
9. Make logical judgements based on proportionality of detail and available time.
10. Act as the Field Army safety SME on relevant Defence Panels.
11. Work with stakeholders to assess and drive In-Service Capability Safety to a managed, ALARP state.
12. Ensure compliance with ACSO1201 and other safety policies.
13. Refer safety issues to line management, including Accident and Incident reports.
14. Manage equipment safety matters with DE&S as needed.
15. Assist other Capability Safety Delivery Teams as directed.
16. Maintain knowledge, skills, and behaviours through continuous professional development.
