About The Role
As an Advanced Practitionerat Bloom, you will play a vital role in supporting our aims and ambitions of enabling all students to succeed by coaching, mentoring and supporting teaching staff and assessors to improve and enhance their pedagogical practice, leading to high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
Bloomis a post-16 college for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), many of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Our provision supports learners with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities through bespoke, aspirational pathways designed around their individual goals, abilities and needs. We are committed to preparing young people for adulthood with dignity, purpose and ambition.
This role sits within our specialist setting and therefore requires someone with demonstrable experience in working with learners with SEND, preferably in a post-16 or FE context. You will understand the importance of creating accessible, inclusive, and person-centred learning environments and be confident in using RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement)to support progress where learners are working outside of accredited qualifications.
You will be an advocate for high-quality teaching in SEND, with a deep understanding of how to differentiate, personalise, and scaffold learning to meet diverse needs. You will also understand what effective curriculum and assessment design looks like in a specialist environment and be able to model, coach and lead excellent practice across the team.
Ideally, you will have experience of teaching in this subject area.
Main Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
* Deliver high-quality teaching in a specialist Preparation fo Adulthood area (561 hours), ensuring an outstanding experience and outcomes for learners, and setting a standard of excellence for colleagues
* Maintain strong learner outcomes for attendance, retention, achievement, and progress
* Provide individual support and coaching to staff in line with their observation and individual development plan
* Provide supportive visits, observations, walk-throughs and other quality review activities to inform wider TLA and quality improvement support across the assigned academy area
* Induct and mentor new delivery staff to the assigned academy, ensuring they meet college expectations and can plan and deliver sessions which provide high-quality, inclusive teaching
* Support new teachers through their induction and deliver internal teacher training programmes
* Work collaboratively with the Academy leadership team to lead professional development and CPD sessions
* Plan and deliver specialist sessions and lead CPD as part of college development days and Communities of Practice programme
* Support staff in reflecting and documenting their professional learning, including CPD log and dual professionalism activity
* Keep up to date with sector research, technological developments and inclusive practices to ensure credibility with the individuals and teams you support
* Contribute to self-assessment and quality improvement planning, ensuring interventions have measurable impact
* Take responsibility for your own professional development, including participation in staff development activities and the Professional Development Review process
* Promote a positive image of Bloom and the wider work of the College
* Comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements
* Prepare documentation for inspections and visits from awarding bodies and funding agencies
* Assist constructively with the demands of external inspectors, assessors, verifiers, and examiners
* Maintain professional standards of behaviour and ensure that the learning environment is of optimum benefit to all students
* Undertake other duties within the scope of the role to support continuous improvement
