Teaching Assistant Location: York, North Yorkshire Salary: £85 - £110 per day Start Date: ASAP GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Male Teaching Assistant to join our Client Secondary school for young people with additional needs in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible. We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual with educational experience who will be working on 1:1 and small group basis with students. About the School: With an emphasis on SEN children, this school is for secondary aged students, aged from years which aims to provide SEN students and staff with exceptional standards of care and education. Every student at the School has a learning disability, and some of them also require extra special education services due to physical or sensory needs. The school provides its students with a customized, individualized curriculum that is in line with their needs and goals and closely related to the outcomes listed in each child's Education, Health, and Care Plan. The school's comprehensive curriculum provides teachers with a list of options of accessible and relevant topics to help students develop what is relevant to them and their identified EHCP broad areas of need. The curriculums at the school have been created after four years of intensive research into SEND as well as visits, research, and interactions with exceptional settings. One of the main goals of the school is to prepare students for adulthood. Teaching Assistants Responsibilities: Work with students including those with special educational needs. Work with the class teachers to support delivery lessons and manage classroom behaviour. Support children with challenging behaviour, learning difficulties or emotional and behavioural difficulties. Responsibilities will also include helping prepare learning materials, run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience and supervision. Promoting a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment. Provide additional support to the teacher in the classroom. Teaching Assistants Requirements: Must hold the Right to Work in the UK. Experience working with children or young people in SEMH, behavioural support, or complex needs settings. Training in behavior management and de-escalation techniques is desirable. Have excellent teamwork, classroom and communication skills. Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
