We're currently supporting a leading engineering contractor in their search for an experienced Tunnelling Geotechnical Engineer to join their team on a 6‐month freelance basis in West Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure programme and play a key role in technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide geotechnical and tunnelling engineering expertise across design and site phases
* Review and interpret ground investigation data and assessments
* Support the design of temporary and permanent works
* Offer technical input during construction, problem‐solving ground‐related issues
* Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety requirements, and project specifications
Experience & Skills Required
* Proven experience in tunnelling and geotechnical engineering
* Strong understanding of ground conditions, soil/rock behaviour, and GI data
* Experience with tunnel design methodologies and modelling software
* Ability to operate effectively within multi‐disciplinary project teams
* Chartered or working toward chartership (ICE, CIWEM, or similar) – desirable
