This role is expected to provide BAU operational support across a wide range of customer network infrastructure, including health checks and reporting, while managing incidents, problems, requests, and changes in line with ITIL best practices and ensuring SLAs are maintained.
What you'll be doing:
* Managing incidents and problems appropriately within agreed service levels.
* Performing technical root cause analysis on recurring or major incidents.
* Assisting engagement with projects to ensure designs of technical solutions meet customer requirements.
* Ensuring customer environments adhere to established standards, frameworks, and compliance requirements.
* Completing and updating technical documentation to professional standards.
* Proactively managing customer environments to identify potential improvements for increased stability, availability, and performance.
* Contributing to infrastructure roadmaps, customer proposals, impact assessments, and statements of work.
* Delivering technical excellence across the wider Network team.
* Executing project tasks such as installing and configuring new equipment.
* Designing and implementing new infrastructure platforms, including creating associated documentation (HLD / LLD, support docs).
What experience you'll bring:
* Practical knowledge of multiple technical areas, supported by current multi-vendor certifications at an associate/professional level.
* Experience deploying and managing functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN).
* Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
* Understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP).
* Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VRF, DNS, DHCP, NAT, Spanning-Tree.
* Knowledge of managing Advanced Threat Protection features and firewall rules.
* Familiarity with network platforms such as Cisco ISE, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ASA, and others listed.
* Experience with network diagnostic and monitoring tools (e.g., Solarwinds, ManageEngine, DNAC).
* Hands-on experience with copper and fibre cabling.
* Understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, Aruba OS, FortiOS, etc.).
* Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-site problems.
* Experience working in collaborative, virtual/remote environments.
* Experience within the ITIL framework.
* Ability to mentor team members on technical issues.
* Knowledge of scripting/automation languages (e.g., Python, Perl) is beneficial.
* Experience in multi-client or solution provider environments is beneficial.
