SEN Provision within a Mainstream School
Are you a passionate and committed SEN Teacher who believes in a whole-school approach to inclusion? We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled SEN Teacher to join our SEN provision within a mainstream school in Bexley, where high-quality provision is achieved through strong collaboration, shared responsibility and inclusive practice.

About the Role
You will be part of a dedicated SEN provision within a mainstream school, supporting pupils with a wide range of needs while enabling them to access the same learning as their peers wherever possible. The role is rooted in partnership working: SEND is not the sole responsibility of the SENCo or SEND Team, but a shared commitment across the whole school.
You will work closely with class teachers, teaching assistants, the SEND Team, middle leaders, therapists, parents and external professionals to deliver inclusive, individualised support that allows pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our Whole-School SEND Approach
The highest quality provision is delivered by all staff working together, ensuring consistency, inclusion and high expectations for every pupil. Provision includes:

Quality First Teaching delivered by Class Teachers
Carefully planned classroom environments that support individual learning styles
Adaptations that enable pupils to access the same learning as their peers (without removing learning intent)
In-class interventions delivered collaboratively by Class Teachers, Class TAs and the SEND Team
Start-of-day interventions, such as sensory circuits
Dynamic risk assessment interventions, including timed access to corridor sensory circuits
Planned small-group withdrawal linked directly to classroom learning
1:1 interventions, including Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) and ELSA programmesKey Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching within the SEN provision
Support pupils with Autism, including sensory processing, communication differences and social development (including recognition of autism in girls, in line with National Autistic Society guidance)
Support pupils with a range of needs, including:
ADHD
SEMH and mental health needs
Speech, language and communication needs
Cognition and learning difficulties
Physical and sensory needs
Create, implement and review personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
Deliver and support a wide range of evidence-based interventions
Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
Use restorative and de-escalation strategies to support positive behaviour and emotional regulationInterventions and Approaches Used Across the Trust
Our SEND Team is highly trained and equipped to deliver a wide range of interventions, including:

ELSA – emotional wellbeing, anxiety and SEMH support
Speech and Language tailored programmes (ELKAN-trained staff under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist)
Sensory Circuits
Total Communication approaches (PECS, BSL Levels 1, 2 and 3)
Precision Teaching
Colourful Semantics
Pre-Teaching strategies
Nurture Group practices
Draw and Talk
Team Teach – dynamic risk assessments and de-escalation techniques
Restorative Practices (with an accredited Restorative Lead in each school)Interventions are delivered across the four areas of need:

Communication and Interaction
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
Physical and Sensory Needs
Cognition and LearningTraining and Professional Development

All staff access an annual universal SEND training programme, ensuring consistent and informed practice across the school
High standards are set for classroom environments and resources to support diverse learning needs
SEND staff receive both whole-team training and opportunities to develop specialist areas of expertiseRequirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
Strong knowledge of SEN, particularly Autism and SEMH
Experience working in a specialist provision and/or inclusive mainstream setting
Excellent communication, collaboration and behaviour-support skills
A strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing
A belief in shared responsibility and whole-school SEND practiceWhat We Offer
