Job Responsibilities
* Conduct bi-annual fire door inspections within Charnwood Borough Council properties.
* Perform minor repairs identified during inspections.
* Report all inspection findings, including any remedial works due or undertaken, to the Compliance Manager.
* Ensure all inspections and related information are recorded using the appropriate monitoring systems.
* Coordinate with the Compliance Co-ordinator to schedule and arrange necessary inspections, liaising with residents as needed.
* Collaborate with other officers to address any issues concerning fire doors and inspections.
* Provide a fair and non-discriminatory service to all service users.
* Maintain office and site records in compliance with statutory requirements related to fire door assessments and associated work.
* Monitor the inspection program and prepare monthly reports for management.
* Ensure health and safety, environment, equality, diversity, and inclusion policies are implemented in all aspects of service delivery and employment.
* Assist in collecting asset data through surveys as required.
* Support other core tasks within the Compliance department, including IT and customer service projects.
* Undertake additional duties as required, appropriate to the grade and hours of work.
* Protect and manage information securely, reporting any breaches in line with Council policies.
* Work may involve activities outside of normal working hours.
Person Specifications
* Knowledge of fire door compliance and building construction elements, components, materials, trades, and applicable regulations.
* Ability to carry out repairs to ensure fire doors meet current requirements.
* Proficiency in conversing with customers and providing advice in accurate spoken English.
* Capability to make decisions, take initiative, and work independently to meet tight deadlines.
* Understanding of health and safety legislation within the building industry.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Good telephone skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
* Strong time management skills and the ability to organize workload efficiently.

* Ability to travel throughout the Borough, potentially using personal transport.
