If so, we are looking for a Senior IT Systems Engineer to join us at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and we'd love to hear from you!
The Senior IT Systems Engineer will support and manage multiple IT Systems. They will ensure IT Systems are available within service level agreements (SLAs) and are working to design. They will maintain software levels and the security of the IT Systems. They carry out activities in incident, problem, change and configuration management and Continual Service Improvement (CSI) processes.

Job Description
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and support of the MCAs IT Systems.
They act as a technical and management escalation point for the wider team, coordinating change, and release management activities in delivering upgrades or with taking new services live.
They ensure that their incidents and problems are being progressed within defined targets and that performance is regularly reviewed.
They will work closely with third parties and service managers to achieve common goals such as, identifying service risks, finding solutions, and implementing mitigating actions.
Other aspects include training other staff, documenting procedures and processes as well as providing technical support for projects.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Aren’t Limited To:
* To deliver software components to enable MCA product delivery and operation.
* To maintain IT Systems using proven frameworks and technologies.
* To support delivery against the team's technical and security strategy.
* To liaise with product managers and technical architects to explore and suggest appropriate technical solutions to achieve the required product features as well as monitoring technical progress against plans.
* To maintain relationships with MCA stakeholders.
* To be responsible for work quality, ensuring it meets the technical standards for all MCA IT systems and applications.
* To monitor work against the delivery schedules closely and provide progress updates and report any issues or technical difficulties to the senior leadership team on a regular basis.

Person specification
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
* Using relevant Operating Systems including performing complex administrative tasks.
* Working in an environment where products have to be delivered to specific time-scales.
* An ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate product and business requirements into technical solutions.
Additional Information
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.
Hybrid working available
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, visiting stakeholders and colleagues, or carrying out detached duty in another DfT or agency workplace. The chosen principal workplace will be the designated place of work and any remote or home working arrangement does not constitute a change to the designated place of work or contractual terms and conditions. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
