Purpose of Role
To monitor, analyse, communicate and drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, product quality/consistency and service provision. To work with the board to deliver operational strategic objectives and be a key agent for change supporting the digital transformation and new operations team.
Primary Responsibilities
To establish, manage and maintain a fully integrated, company‑wide digital Quality Management System (QMS) Dashboard that clearly describes and communicates quality performance of the company, capturing non‑conformance, customer complaints, cost of quality and trend analysis measures the impact of CI activity. To collaborate with the CI team and use QMS data to inform and drive continuous improvement across the factory and wider business. To liaise with external assessment bodies and help develop additional accreditations for medical, automotive and aerospace markets.
Key Tasks
* Ensure a document control procedure is adopted to approve review and update all changes to critical documents within the scope of the QMS.
* Ensure records are established and maintained to provide evidence that the QMS is being followed, including a system for identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposition of records.
* Ensure the performance of the QMS is reviewed at planned intervals to assess opportunities for improvement and the need for change.
* Ensure quality objectives are set by Senior Management and regularly reviewed during Management Review.
* Maintain, review and revise Standard Operating Procedures across the plant.
* Ensure all new staff are inducted into QMS requirements and receive update training as necessary.
* Ensure suppliers are selected, evaluated and re‑evaluated with records maintained (Approved Suppliers Register).
* Ensure Senior Management undertakes periodic but regular assessments of customer satisfaction and implement consequent improvements.
* Ensure an internal audit programme is adopted to verify QMS conformity and effective implementation and take appropriate actions when this is not the case.
* Analyse data on QMS effectiveness and evaluate where continual improvements can be made, including data from monitoring and measurement.
* Co‑ordinate continual improvements of the QMS, ensuring evidence of corrective and preventive actions taken are recorded and reviewed.
* Arrange and co‑ordinate Quality Meetings with the relevant team at regular intervals.
* Create a profile for Engineering Quality Technician and support in their development.
* Help design and implement a new goods inspection process utilising the CMM for all customer returns and refurb products.
Outputs and Measurement Criteria
Monthly QMS management report capturing external complaints, non‑conformance trend analysis (assessed by SE / RM). Establish targets for internal non‑conformance/customer complaints (October 24). All customer complaints satisfactorily closed within 6 weeks (reported in month‑end report). Ensure satisfactory conclusion to external assessment scheduled for November 24. Integrate system onto EFACS by end of 2025.
