About Us
The Major Works Section is seeking suitably qualified building professionals eager to develop their technical skills within a small, dedicated team. We have two permanent positions available. This role is vital to the ongoing success of the Housing & Regeneration Department during a period of significant change, offering an exciting opportunity for professional growth.
About The Role
1. Project Delivery: Responsible for managing projects from inception to completion, leading a multi-disciplinary team of external consultants. Projects cover the full spectrum of the Council's housing stock, from Victorian street properties to high-rise estates.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Possess working knowledge of Health & Safety and Housing legislation related to major works, including planning, building regulation, and leasehold management in social housing projects.
3. Team Player: Join an established team with a strong track record of maintaining and improving housing stock while achieving high resident satisfaction through traditional and innovative procurement methods.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
* Experience supervising large, multi-disciplinary major work projects, including contract administration and managing consultants and contractors.
* Proficiency in preparing technical briefs, appraisals, reports, specifications, and managing contracts from start to finish.
* Ability to manage workload independently and meet strict deadlines.
* Relevant qualifications or experience in supervising a range of building/construction projects, especially high-rise buildings.
* Ability to maintain financial control over projects.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and Housing legislation applicable to major works, including planning, building regulations, and leasehold management.
* Membership or qualification from a relevant professional body.
