Development & Bidding Internship
Role Overview
We are seeking a Development & Bidding Intern to support the delivery of projects and initiatives within our Development team. Reporting to the Head of Development, you will play an active role in managing projects from initial assessment through to delivery, including the preparation of proposals and handover to operational teams.
The internship provides exposure to a variety of municipal and commercial service opportunities, such as waste collection, streetscape management, grounds maintenance, and treatment or disposal contracts, primarily relating to local authority and public-sector bids.
In this role, you will also support compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements while ensuring high-quality service delivery and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
* Take responsibility for personal safety and support the safety of colleagues, contractors, and visitors.
* Understand and apply company HSE policies and procedures.
* Assist in conducting risk assessments and environmental impact analyses for departmental activities.
* Provide guidance on safe working practices and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
* Support reporting of incidents, near misses, and investigations as required.
* Ensure team members and subcontractors hold necessary qualifications, licenses, and competencies.
Development & Bidding Support
* Be a fully integrated member of the development and bidding teams.
* Support the preparation of bid submissions, proposals, and contract documentation.
* Liaise with internal teams such as Operations, Finance, Legal, Fleet, Technical, HR, and Planning to gather information and ensure smooth delivery.
* Monitor project and programme timelines, reporting progress as required.
* Maintain and embed development procedures and best practices.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of bid processes and documentation.

* Numerate and commercially aware.
* Highly motivated with drive, resilience, and determination to achieve objectives.
* Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
* Able to work collaboratively, manage priorities, and adapt to changing circumstances.
* Capable of building and maintaining relationships with third parties.
* Full UK driving licence; access to own transport is advantageous.

* Completion of relevant competency modules and training programmes will be provided.
