Overview

The specialist team specialises in advising banks and specialist lenders in taking security over commercial, mixed use and buy to let properties across England and Wales on a high volume basis.


Responsibilities


Technical Ability

* Draft and amend documents with speed and accuracy
* Format, paginate, number and present documents in Birketts LLP house style
* Proofread all work, checking for spelling and grammar
* Proactively work with the fee earners to ensure relevant documentation is produced to meet clients' expectations and deadlines
* Undertake fee earning under supervision


Administrative Skills

* Send and respond to email correspondence and phone calls
* Process account forms, payment requisition forms and arrange advances
* Process documentation including new client and new matter information, money laundering documentation, preparation of security documentation using templates, etc.
* Ensure that all electronic filing and paper based filing is up to date and maintained at regular intervals
* Prepare LR applications and carry out LR status checks against files on a diarised basis
* Carry out photocopying and scanning as required


Professional Skills

* Immediately clarify instructions from fee earners if they are unclear or deadlines are not explicit
* Respond to internal and external telephone enquiries politely and professionally, taking accurate telephone messages (name, number, company) and passing them to the relevant fee earners
* Proactively support other team members and provide cover as necessary to ensure work is completed to a high standard and meets required deadlines
* Provide full support to all team members and fee earners in the full range of activities performed, and carry out any other duties reasonably requested and in line with client service level agreements and Birketts standards


Qualifications

* A Law degree or equivalent
* Experience working in a law firm
* Excellent attention to detail together with analytical and organisational skills
* Committed team player who can adapt well to new challenges and a busy environment
* Ability to use own initiative and show sound judgement
* Strong IT skills – familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management
* Excellent communication skills

Team

The team you will join: Our team of experienced Real Estate Finance Lawyers handle a range of real estate finance law matters and advise on transactions throughout the UK. The team has detailed knowledge of all sectors of the property finance industry and acts for both lenders and borrowers.
