Job Summary
Are you an experienced Children’s Nurse looking for a new challenge? The Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a compassionate and motivated Community Children’s Nurse to join our dynamic team delivering high‑quality care across Oxfordshire.
Responsibilities
The role involves providing specialist nursing care and advice to:
* Children with acute and short‑term conditions
* Children with long‑term conditions
* Children with disabilities and complex health needs, including those requiring continuing care and respite support
* Children with life‑limiting and life‑threatening conditions, including palliative and end‑of‑life care
Key duties include:
* Delivering respite provision, duty cover, acute care (including Hospital at Home) and palliative care across the community.
* Performing planned clinical assessments and interventions in line with agreed care pathways.
* Escalating any signs of clinical deterioration appropriately and collaborating with acute‑based medical teams.
* Triaging referrals and allocating workload across localities as the nurse in charge.
* Providing end‑of‑life care within families’ home environments, supported by an on‑call rota.
* Participating in a structured rolling education programme and contributing to the team’s continuous professional development.
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Children’s Nurse
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
Desirable
* Community Specialist Practitioner Award: Community Children’s Nursing
* Palliative Care Certificate
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* Acute paediatric nursing experience
* Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
* Evidence of clinical leadership
Desirable
* Community Nursing experience
* Paediatric nursing skills in palliative care
* Paediatric nursing skills in intravenous therapy administration, cardio‑respiratory care, enteral feeding and wound care
* Experience in acting as a student nursing supervisor/assessor
Job‑Related Skills
* Awareness and acceptance of Children’s Rights
* Ability to work in different environments
* Full UK driving licence and access to car
