Job Vacancy Pharmacy Assistant (Band 2) Location: Antrim Area Hospital Duration: 6 months (initially) Hours: Full-time, 37 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM 5:00 PM Salary: £23,615 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) About the Role: Antrim Area Hospital is seeking a motivated Pharmacy Assistant (Band 2) to join our Pharmacy team. Under the supervision of senior pharmacy staff, you will ensure the effective and efficient supply of drugs, dressings, and medical/surgical items, providing excellent service to patients and colleagues. Key Responsibilities: Receive, check, and shelve pharmacy items in line with departmental procedures. Assist with bulk issue, ward orders, IV fluids, and procedure packs. Monitor and maintain stock levels, including expiry checks and stock rotation. Support the dispensing and distribution of drugs, dressings, vaccines, and controlled drugs. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Participate in cleaning and preparation of the aseptic unit and its equipment. Adhere to infection control, health & safety, and Medicines Act guidelines. Provide excellent customer service and support the training of junior staff. Qualifications & Experience: 5 GCSEs (Grades AG) including English Language and Maths (Grade C or above) or NVQ Level 2 / BTEC Level 2 in Pharmacy Services. Candidates without NVQ/BTEC may be required to undertake a Pearson Level 2 Certificate in Principles & Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff. Effective communication, organisational, and basic numeracy skills. Knowledge of HPSS and pharmacy operations.
