Job Summary
West Horndon Surgery islooking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice,who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. This role is offered on a full time basis (37.5 hours WTE).
Main duties of the job
* Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
* Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor;
* Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient;
* Process hospital letters;
* Process dossette boxes;
* Manage ordering stock and stock control;
* Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries;
* Monitor patients exemption status;
* Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication;
* Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

Peartree and West Horndon Surgeries are a patient focused and excelling health care provider for patients in South Ockendon and West Horndon localities. We currently consist of 7,600 patients with our West Horndon site as a dispensing practice. We are constantly looking to improve our practices and take on new staff to help further our goal of great healthcare. We try to work in a family type environment and look after our staff and colleagues. Our surgery has 3 partners and one nurse. Our dispensing team consists of 4 pharmacy dispensers. * Excellent clinical and medication knowledge;
* Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting;
* The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career;
