Processing Manager Location: Gateshead Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (DOE) Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 5:00pm Holidays: 25 days bank holidays Company Overview A long-established and respected manufacturer in the heavy industry sector is seeking an experienced Processing Manager to oversee a newly installed drilling line. The business operates at the forefront of steel fabrication and precision engineering and is investing in new technology to support continued growth. Role Overview As Processing Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the new drilling line and manage a team of 7 staff across CAD and shop floor operations. This position suits someone with a strong background in heavy manufacturing or steel processing and proven leadership skills. Your first project will involve overseeing the installation and commissioning of the new machinery, so experience in managing similar projects would be an advantage. Key Responsibilities * Manage and lead a team of 7 staff across design (CAD) and production. * Oversee daily operations of the drilling line, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met. * Coordinate workflow between CAD and shop floor to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of jobs. * Take an active role in improving production processes and resource allocation. * Support and coordinate the installation and commissioning of new machinery, working with both internal teams and external suppliers. * Review technical drawings and collaborate with CAD technicians to ensure production accuracy. * Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Candidate Profile * Experience in a production or operations management role within heavy or steel manufacturing. * Exposure to machinery installation and commissioning is beneficial. * Understanding of CAD processes and technical drawings. * Confident decision-maker with excellent problem-solving abilities. * Highly organised, with a focus on efficiency and team performance.
