We're seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join our team and play a key role in leading complex planning projects, supporting team development, and contributing to wider business growth. Acting as a brand ambassador, you'll help strengthen client relationships, secure new opportunities, and drive company success through high-quality planning work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead on complex planning applications and appeals
2. Independently manage project submissions and client communications
3. Attend and present at appeal hearings and examinations in public
4. Undertake Section 106 negotiations
5. Contribute to business development and networking efforts
6. Manage project budgets and fee proposals
7. Support the preparation of new business pitches and client presentations
8. Mentor and develop junior team members
9. Promote the practice through marketing and client engagement activities
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
10. Minimum 3-5 years of professional planning experience (public or private sector)
11. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
12. Excellent verbal and written communication
13. Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
14. High-quality report writing and data analysis skills
15. Confident in negotiations and representing clients
16. Strong time management and multitasking ability
17. Highly organised, methodical, and able to meet tight deadlines
18. Positive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
19. Able to work independently and as part of a team
20. Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
21. Professional, friendly, and approachable manner
22. Full clean UK driving licence
Desirable:
23. Understanding of urban design and masterplanning
24. Existing client relationships or ability to generate new business is an advantage
