Job summary
We are looking for a highly dedicated Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join our Liaison Psychiatry Service at Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford, Surrey.
Our team provides a comprehensive specialist service to patients, clinicians and carers in the general hospital setting.
This is a challenging but rewarding role, offering an exciting opportunity to Nurses, Occupational Therapists or Social Workers who have a strong assessment and therapeutic skills. You will need the ability to work autonomously whilst still contributing to the team as a whole. Previous experience of working in Liaison Psychiatry and across ages is desirable, although not essential. We offer excellent staff support through clinical supervision and teamwork.
You will have an excellent and positive approach to work, with an outstanding, demonstrable background of providing high quality care. You will have an insight into liaison psychiatry and the national guidelines impacting these services. You will have experience and willingness to teach and educate others within the team and the wider network as well as a commitment to service development and the best possible outcomes for people in the acute hospital setting.

Main duties of the job
The team is CORE 24, as such you will be expected to work a shift system across a 24hr period seven days a week, primarily assessing patients who are referred from our inpatient wards or those who present to the Emergency Department.

Has expertise and experience in mental health assessment, care planning, crisis management and partner working.
Has a positive attitude to service improvement and development and can enthusiastically engage partners, provide training and support the development of other staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. To work collaboratively with the service manager and Multi- disciplinary team to develop outstanding liaison psychiatry services.
2. To engage staff and external partners positively and constructively, in line with the Trusts Clinical and Commercial strategy, supporting the Trusts Vision and Values
3. Ability to think develop practical innovative and creative solutions to the clinical issues and complex problems
4. To act as a responsible member of the Liaison psychiatry team and accept responsibility for own performance and delivery of targets
5. To support the team leader and service manager in developing sustainable and improving services in line with national specifications, local implementation requirements and a set financial envelope.
6. To promote and introduce systems to continuously improve quality of care, drawing on national and trust guidance, in particular CQC
7. To promote and encourage multi-dimensional and multi-cultural aspects whilst ensuring parity of access and esteem
8. To support clinical improvement with a strong emphasis on integrated multidisciplinary working and the development of person centred care.
9. To ensure compliance with all statutory, financial, health & safety, employment, safeguarding requirements, including statutory and mandatory training
10. To ensure the trusts supervision policy is adhered to and supervisor, appraisal and personal/team development are intrinsic and considered in all business developments
11. To attend external partnership meetings as required
12. To deputise for the team leader and service manager as required
13. To work as part of a rota across 24hrs, 7 days per week with flexibility to travelling across sites and services as required.
