EduTalent Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Kent for a reliable and proactive Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning across the school.
As the Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged and focused. When not covering lessons, you will use your initiative to support a range of activities including enrichment sessions, registration, PHSE, school trips, and exam invigilation.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise classes during short-term teacher absence, following lesson plans provided by teachers.
*
Manage student behaviour and engagement in line with school rules.
*
Support pupils’ learning by guiding them through tasks and providing assistance as needed.
*
Deliver registration and provide notices or information to students, attending assemblies when required.
*
Assist with PHSE delivery, enrichment activities, and school day trips.
*
Support internal and external exam invigilation and administration as required.
*
Use school technology to enhance lessons and learning experiences.
*
Provide feedback on pupil behaviour, engagement, and lesson delivery to the Cover Department.
*
Undertake administrative tasks and participate in INSET and professional development activities.
*
Contribute to safeguarding and promotion of student welfare in line with school policies.
Requirements
Essential:
*
Experience working with children of relevant ages.
*
Knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice, and legislation.
*
Ability to manage classroom behaviour and create a purposeful learning environment.
*
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience.
*
Good numeracy and literacy skills.
*
Ability to use initiative, work independently, and adapt to changing circumstances.
*
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students and staff.
*
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Desirable:
*
Previous experience as a cover supervisor or teaching assistant.
*
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
*
Competence in using ICT to support teaching and administration.
*
Flexibility to assist in trips, enrichment, or PHSE activities.
