Locum Consultant Acute General Physician
The Health Board is looking to recruit a motivated Consultant in Acute Medicine to join a team of established medical consultants working across Pembrokeshire and to support the Welsh Government's vision for NHS Wales. The appointment will be based at Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest, and will involve developing/maintaining a specialist interest.
Main duties of the job
* To provide, with consultant colleagues (as appropriate), a service in General Medicine and support the development of a sub-speciality interest to the hospital and community, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
* Work in close cooperation with other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues to provide high quality healthcare.
* Discussions around working pattern will take place during initial job planning, where preferences, requirements and options can be discussed and explored.
Qualifications
Essential
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* MRCP
* Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
Desirable
* Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
* On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
* Or Portfolio Pathway (CESR) or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
Clinical Experience
Essential
* Broad based experience in Acute General Medicine
* Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
* Knowledge and participation in CPD
* Expertise in Acute General Medicine
Desirable
* Experience of NHS
* Wider experience, research and training in providing subspecialty service
* Additional clinical qualification(s)
Clinical Governance
Essential
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding of the role of audit in improving medical practice
Desirable
* Knowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process
Research
Essential
* Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence to improve clinical outcomes
Desirable
* Research degree
Teaching
Essential
* Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and resident doctors
Desirable
* Organisation of further teaching programmes in medical education
* Training the Trainers experience
Management
Essential
* Knowledge of the management and structure of the NHS

* Evidence of management training
