Job Description
My Client is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Water Sector. They are looking to strengthen their engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer based out of Bristol or Exeter offices with hybrid working available. You will report directly to the Principal Engineer or Regional Discipline Lead, and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking into account health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Produce design layouts that are cost-effective, meet specification requirements, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
2. Ensure the entire cost associated with the design and subsequent construction is considered, including design time, material, erection costs, and impacts on other disciplines.
3. Utilize standard practices wherever possible to maintain competitiveness.
4. Provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
5. Follow procedures and processes to ensure ongoing departmental development.
6. Assist in developing and monitoring procedures and processes for efficient workflow.
7. Coordinate designs with all internal and external disciplines to ensure smooth project execution.
8. Maintain files and records throughout the contract duration.
9. Ensure customer satisfaction by prioritizing client needs and feedback.
10. Maintain a personal development plan.
11. Assist in supervising and developing staff.
12. Promote a safe working environment for all staff.
13. Minimize waste from departmental activities.
14. Ensure designs consider environmental issues and comply with health and safety requirements.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex water industry projects.
* Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
* Experience in managing and mentoring staff in relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants.
* Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
* Preferably, a relevant discipline Engineering degree.
* Minimum of a relevant discipline Engineering HND.
* Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
* Good knowledge of water treatment, mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
* Flexible mindset with the ability to handle large data sets.
* Clear and confident presentation of technical proposals.
* Computer literacy.
* Driving license.
