The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Overview of the role
We are looking for a Project Controller to join the Energy Unit within the Nuclear; Defence and Civil division. This is a project control engineering role to support the project management function in the successful delivery of projects within the Nuclear sector, offering the opportunity to partner with multi discipline teams and support project delivery safely and effectively in line with company procedures.
Key responsibilities and duties
* Build, maintain, and deliver accurate cost schedules from source data, ensuring high quality and timely results with minimal supervision
* Interpret stakeholder requirements and deliver cost information tailored to meet their specific needs
* Apply technical problem-solving techniques using standard tools to generate high-quality data outputs
* Provide cost engineering support in areas such as change control, estimating, and planning
* Analyse and interpret data to create accurate estimates at completion (EAC) forecasts
* Prepare progress reports, including earned value analysis, and identify key trends and areas for improvement
* Address project variances, propose effective mitigation strategies, and discuss recovery options with stakeholders
* Manage your workload effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy
* Work closely with project and engineering managers to ensure successful project delivery in the nuclear sector
* Collaborate with other project disciplines to maintain alignment and achieve project goals
* Build and nurture strong relationships both internally and externally, contributing to a positive team culture
Requirements
* Experience in cost/project control, including developing detailed cost schedules and EAC forecasts within the nuclear industry or similar fields
* Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels
* Experience in mentoring junior team members and supporting process execution and work‐sharing
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach
* Degree or equivalent qualification in mathematics or a science related field
* Progress towards or achievement of accreditation with a recognised professional body (e.g., ACostE)
