We are seeking an inspiring and forward‑thinking Head of Pharmacy Clinical Services & Workforce Development Lead who will champion innovation, develop the pharmacy workforce of the future, and ensure our services deliver the highest standards of safe, effective, and patient‑centred care.
Provide strategic professional leadership to the pharmacy department ensuring pharmacy teams deliver safe, efficient and standardised services. Shape the future workforce, working collaboratively with partners including HEIW to develop and deliver a clear vision for pharmacy workforce transformation aligned to A Healthier Wales and prudent healthcare principles. Drive clinical excellence and innovation, ensuring pharmacy services continue to evolve to support modern models of care and deliver measurable improvements in quality, safety and efficiency.
Lead pharmacy services within the Unscheduled Care Group.

Main duties of the job
This is a senior healthcare professional providing leadership and management to healthcare staff providing operational pharmacy services to CTMUHB. The post holder will have a particular focus on providing high quality, safe, well‑governed, productive and cost‑effective services which support the UHB in delivering its strategic objectives.
This role will provide compassionate and inclusive leadership to those within their areas of responsibility. In addition, there will be joint responsibility and accountability within the Medicines Management Senior Management Team (SMT) for delivering patient safety, financial targets, efficiencies, workforce planning and service delivery to improve safe patient flow within and outside the directorate.
Provide oversight and assurance for the delivery of pharmacy workforces' training, development and transformation.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. While the candidate doesn’t need fluent skills, speaking & listening at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above is considered an advantage.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Pharmacy degree (Bachelor or Masters level)
* Registration with the GPhC
* Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
* Mentorship training or equivalent.
* Postgraduate pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience (minimum postgraduate diploma level).
* Postgraduate Master’s qualification in leadership, management or business or equivalent experience.
* RPS member
* Highly specialised knowledge of healthcare systems and NHS changes.
* Demonstrated expert knowledge covering a range of pharmacy services, relevant regulation, legislation and guidelines.
* Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B1) are Desirable for this Role.
Experience
* Significant senior clinical experience in UK hospital Pharmacy.
* Experience of presenting own work at conferences.
* Relevant leadership experience at a senior level.
* Experience in managing organisational change.
* Experience of conducting and supervising practice research or other projects.
* Experience in developing and managing high quality patient experience action plans.
* Experience in delivering Service Improvement projects.
* Proven experience of meeting service objectives, managing projects and supervising others to deliver.
* Experience of conducting and supervising practice research or other projects.
* Significant experience of managing, leading and motivating teams and individual staff, appraising and giving feedback.
* Experience of management including responsibility for staff and budgetary control.
