The company designs and manufactures complex EC&I and mechanical systems in‑house, providing full lifecycle delivery from concept through to commissioning across advanced engineering programmes.
They support major infrastructure, energy, research and defence programmes, delivering large‑scale machinery, process systems, automation solutions and safety‑critical instrumentation.
About the Lead Electrical Design Engineer Role
The Lead Electrical Design Engineer will guide electrical design teams delivering complex engineering solutions from initial concept through to handover. Projects involve high‑integrity machinery and process systems designed for regulated environments, covering full lifecycle design, integration, testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities of the Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Lead electrical design work packages to time, cost and quality targets
Supervise, review and verify design deliverables including schematics, GA drawings, cable schedules, FDS and software documentation
Produce control panel designs including GAs, detailed drawings, wiring diagrams, interlocks, motor starters, drives, safety circuits, instrumentation and power distribution
Coordinate with EC&I, mechanical and software engineering teams
Liaise with manufacturing, testing and commissioning functions
Ensure compliance with UK legislation, engineering standards and best practice
Contribute to HAZOPs, design reviews and technical risk assessments
Manage design change control, variations and technical documentation
Security Requirements
This role involves access to sensitive engineering projects. Applicants must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC).
Candidate Profile
HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar discipline)
Strong experience in electrical design engineering
Proven background leading Electrical / EC&I engineers on project work
Proficient in AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office
Knowledge of British/European standards; IEC 61508 beneficial
Eligible for UK Security Clearance
