Overview

Under the direction of a qualified physician, performs imaging procedures to produce scanograms and measures concentration of radionuclides in specified body areas, according to technical and professional standards. Measures radioactive dosage prescribed for patients with a dose calibrator. Positions equipment and patients to produce diagnostic quality images. Administers pre-medication and radiopharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities

1. Policies and Procedures
* Demonstrates competence in all Nuclear Medicine procedures.
1. Education/In-Service
* Completes safety modules each year along with HIPAA notice.
2. Work Ethics
* Ability to be flexible with work schedule and coordinate workflow.
3. Patient Interaction
* Greets all patients following AIDET and makes necessary adjustments to the exam based on the patient's age group.
4. Safety
* Practices ALARA to maintain low radiation dose to self and others.
5. Equipment
* Demonstrates competence and proficiency with all Nuclear Medicine equipment.
6. Processing
* Maintains the ability to perform all required processing procedures on the Syngo computer.
7. Quality Control
* Regularly inspects and performs calibration procedures before equipment is used for patient examination, performed daily, weekly, and monthly.


Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree, Graduate of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Program.

Experience

One to two years of experience.

Licensure

Licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health. Certified ARRT (N) and/or CNMT registered. CPR certification (BLS) required; ACLS preferred.
