Established in 2008, the Culture Trust, Luton, is a vibrant and progressive independent charity with a mission to connect communities through culture. Operating across placemaking, museums, heritage and the arts, the Trust has three cluster heritage sites and delivers a cultural programme that is bold in ambition, inclusive by design, and shaped with the people it serves. With a vision for culture to serve as a catalyst for change, promoting sustainable growth and generating positive impacts in their community and beyond, the Trust contributes positively to the social, economic and cultural prosperity of Luton and its surrounding regions through the power of the arts. Following a decade of excellent leadership, the Trust’s Chief Executive, Marie Kirbyshaw, is stepping down after leading a period of important development and change, including major capital development programmes, entrepreneurial business diversification, commissioning new work, and securing status as a regularly funded Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. The Trust is therefore seeking an ambitious Chief Executive to lead the next phase of growth and further reinforcement in a challenging financial environment. This will include navigating exciting opportunities for change, including the evolution of the Stockwood Discovery Centre Museum and listed heritage site capital project expansion of the Hat District creative industry cluster, as well as driving fundraising, partnerships, and income diversification. This is a rare opportunity to lead a diverse, multi-disciplinary cultural trust, shaping bold projects that transform place and community, while shaping how museums, arts and heritage enrich civic life locally and nationally. The successful candidate will be an ambitious and visionary leader, bringing financial resilience and versatility with substantial senior management experience from a comparably multi-faceted, cultural, organisation. They will have a proven track record in strategy development, income generation and partnership building, combined with excellent communication and advocacy skills. Able to inspire teams internally, engage stakeholders, and navigate complex projects, they will be committed to using culture to create lasting impact, locally and nationally.
