Job overview
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will join the Thanet Community Mental Health Team, which has a dedicated Duty team, assessment, and CAPA assessment team. There is a robust system of medical support to ensure medical leadership.
The Trust considers this an excellent opportunity to develop the team's functioning. The service covers the eastern area of the town, an area of social deprivation with significant drug and alcohol-related challenges. You will not be responsible for inpatients.
You will interact with other specialties such as the Mother and Infant Mental Health team and Neuropsychiatry.
Applicants should ideally have MRCPsych or equivalent, be on, or within six months of, the Specialist Register. You must be fully GMC registered, with Approved Clinician status and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act (or achieve this within 3 months of appointment).
Main duties of the job
* Assess and treat mental health conditions under the secondary mental health services.
* Manage, appraise, and supervise junior medical staff, in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Participate in service and business planning for the locality and the wider mental health services.
* Collaborate with local managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery and contribute to management activities.
* Handle administrative duties related to patient care.
* Attend and contribute to the Trust's academic program, including lectures and seminars as part of CPD.
