Job Description
We’re recruiting for an experienced 2nd Line Engineer on behalf of a leading IT services provider. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring junior team members, and is comfortable providing both remote and on-site support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide second-line technical support via the Service Desk, including hardware and software troubleshooting
* Attend client sites as required for proactive and reactive support
* Ensure long-term, cost-effective solutions that align with client needs
* Support and mentor junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and best practices
* Recommend system improvements and upgrades based on client requirements and service offerings
* Deliver a professional, proactive approach to customer service
* Maintain a logical, methodical approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2003–2022) and Desktop OS (XP–11)
* Experience with Office 365 setup and administration
* VMware and/or Hyper-V administration skills
* Hosted Desktop and Terminal Server environments
* Solid networking experience (DNS, routing, switching)
* Familiarity with VoIP systems, ideally 3CX
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with Cisco or Draytek routers and firewalls
* Apple device support
* Knowledge of Azure AD, Intune, and Microsoft Defender
* Group Policy management
* Exposure to Ubiquiti or Cisco wireless systems
* Previous experience within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
* Relevant accreditations (CompTIA, Microsoft, Apple)
