The role
The Strategic Relationship Manager role will be responsible for developing our broker strategy including pipeline, retention and relationship management with key brokers. They will manage the day to day relationships with our key brokers and strategic clients. Working to bring the best of HDI to the market and further developing HDI’s value proposition.
They will play a key role in helping developing our market presence in the UK & Irish Insurance markets and supporting the wider Talanx group.
Key accountabilities
* Provide support to the HDI UK & Ireland Branch across our 3 trading divisions – Corporate, Specialty and Delegated Authority underwriting units through:
o Distribution – Insight & Analysis, Proposition development
o Client and Broker Strategic Relationship Management
o Data collation and analysis
o Market Intelligence
o Product Intelligence
o Global linkage
* Full understanding of the proposition and underwriting appetite of each product line to a level whereby there is strong contribution to portfolio management and new business development with existing and prospective trading partners.
* Work with the Corporate & Specialty Underwriters and Technical Operations to establish a trading data framework from which KPI’s can be formulated, monitored and measured.
* Anticipate, identify and resolve (or elevate) trading or regulatory issues arising.
* Create and maintain a regulated meeting programme with key trading partners, clients and facilitate group introductions through formal and informal meetings; dinners and presentations.
* Build a framework to record business intelligence derived from Broker partners to evaluate performance and trading integrity.
* Consistent and timely communication of relevant industry information across HDI UK in support of trading considerations on a global level.
* Assist in answering or seeking solution for Distribution-related ad-hoc queries or requests, from the business or Global Head Office in Hannover within required deadlines.
* Proactively participate in projects or other initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the organisation, as and when required to do so by the Chief Distribution Officer, HDI UK & Ireland.
* Adhere to all local and Group guidelines.
* Build the HDI Global strategy for a panel of selected brokers in a national capacity.
* Active participation in the global development of Distribution and Sales capabilities with our Global head office in Hannover.
* Work with the wider Distribution team and Underwriters to support the development and implementation of a differentiated broker and client strategy.
* Working with our London and Regional offices to support pipeline and retention with our broker partners.
* Providing solutions to brokers and clients aligned to the wider HDI Global SE corporate strategy.
* Report on broker performance against plan and implement action plans in conjunction with brokers and HDI line of business heads.
* Lead client pitches, communicating our Partner in Transformation vision in conjunction with our Underwriters.
Skills & experience
* Experience in a sales and distribution role within an insurer or broker with detailed knowledge of the Insurance market
* Ability to define and implement broker management strategies
* A track record in fostering long term, profitable relationships at senior level
* Able to work in an international matrix organization
* Basic understanding of international programme placements
* An inquisitive disposition with a willingness to identify new ways of working and suggestions around implementing
* Negotiation and conflict management – ability to negotiate best position for us and our clients
* Strong grasp of underwriting performance and portfolio data analytics
* At ease using data and new technologies to optimize existing products and services
* Implement tools & methodologies to develop market, competitor & client insight with knowledge and insight on global business and trends
* Ability to build and foster sustainable relationships both internally and externally
