Job description
Permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week.
We’re growing our team! We have a new opportunity for a talented Business Intelligence Development Officer to join our central Performance and Business Intelligence team to support the council’s Housing Repairs and Maintenance Services and deliver the best outcomes for local tenants and communities.
Highly confident in writing complex SQL and in the use of SSIS, SSRS and Microsoft Power BI, you will lead on extracting, transforming and analysing data from multiple systems to create high-quality, accessible intelligence. You’ll also support the development of predictive analytics and the use of data to enable forward planning and demand management across the service.
By working closely with service leaders and stakeholders, you will translate business needs into effective self-service reporting solutions. You’ll play a vital role in strengthening data quality, improving systems and delivering statutory and regulatory information returns.
You’ll design and develop intuitive dashboards, reports and self-service solutions that enable colleagues at all levels to understand performance, make informed decisions and take action to improve service delivery.
Your ability to proactively solve problems and communicate technical information in a simple and engaging way will be key to the success of the role.
This is a rapidly changing area of work, you will need to be adaptable, resilient and have the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting challenging deadlines. You may also be required to contribute to wider corporate priorities, supporting services across the council as needed.
This post will have access to the Public Services Network. If successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).

* Experience in producing technical reports and datasets from multiple structured datasets via ETL processes using SSIS
* Ability to translate and present complex information clearly to non‑technical audiences and make recommendations for service improvements
* Experience of completing analysis requests and statutory data submissions
* Experience of managing data quality, including identifying and resolving complex data issues and addressing root causes
* Experience delivering system development or service improvement work using a structured, project‑based approach
* Strong communication skills, with experience of engaging, leading and training others in the use of data and performance information.
