CNC Machinist – Turner / Setter / Operator / Programmer A vacancy has arisen within a busy precision engineering environment due to increased workload and the retirement of a long-serving team member. This is an opportunity to join a modern, well-equipped machine shop specialising in high-precision components for a range of industries. The role is within the Turning department and will involve working on a brand-new CNC lathe with bar feed in an air-conditioned facility. Working Hours Standard hours are: * Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30 * Friday: 07:30 – 13:30 Overtime is available depending on workload. Key Responsibilities * Programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines * Producing components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards * Understanding and applying turning methods for efficient and stable production * Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications * Monitoring tool wear and carrying out adjustments/replacements as required * Self-inspection of work in line with ISO 9001 quality procedures * Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company standards * Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment * Supporting safe working practices at all times Candidate Requirements * Proven experience as a CNC Turner / Setter / Programmer * Strong knowledge of CNC turning processes and manufacturing techniques * Ability to independently set and operate CNC lathes to a high standard * Familiarity with Fanuc controls (or similar CNC systems) * Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications * Good machining knowledge and planning ability * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently * Reliable, well-organised, and a strong team player * Ability to work using own initiative with minimal supervision Additional Information * Permanent position * Competitive salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per year (depending on experience) * Day shift, Monday to Friday * On-site parking available * Candidates must comply with Health & Safety requirements and may be subject to occupational health checks
